New Events

A unique exhibition of photographs and installations by artist Soumya Sankar Bose on Jatra artists was held at Chitrabani library from 20th to 25th of May 2016. The event was presented by Chitrabani in collaboration with India Foundation for the Arts. For the 6 days the library was transformed into a magical space of light and shadow with even a greenroom where a jatra artist sat in costume applying make-up.

Launching of CBAA ( Chitrabani Alumnae and Associates)

Chitrabani Alumnae and Associates was launched on 10th October 2015 in the presence of Founder-Director Father Gaston Roberge.
Over forty eminent personalities from the media world attended the event and signed up as members.
CBAA has been active ever since, participating in Chitrabani’s courses, workshops and events.

Premiere of documentary film on Fr. Gaston Roberge by K.G. Das

On 1st june 2016 a documentary film on Father Gaston Roberge was premiered at the Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata auditorium. The film titled, ‘Master Preacher of Film Theory’ has been directed by former Films Division Director K.G.Das. Chitrabani hosted the premiere and presented the film. A 40 minute interactive session moderated by Chitrabani Director Fr. P. J. Joseph brought back nostalgic moments to the 200 odd guests present for the occasion. Father Gaston Roberge was the Guest of Honour.

Premiere of Short Film by Akhilesh Mandal

Chitrabani hosted the premiere of short fiction film ASAMPRIKTO, Directed by Akhilesh Mandal, an alumnus of the institute on 17th march 2016.

Founder-Director Father Roberge was the Guest of Honour.

The film was screened to a packed auditorium where guests, casts and crew members were present.

The event was adequately covered by both print and electronic media.

World Photography Day Exhibition

According to most sources, Lorum Ipsum can be traced back to a text composed by Cicero in 45 BC.

Allegedly, a Latin scholar established the origin of the text by compiling all the instances of the unusual word ‘consectetur’ he could find and eventually recognized it as a passage from ‘De finibus bonorum et malorum’ (On the extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, a book that was very popular in the Middle Ages: “Neque porro quisquam est, qui dolorem ipsum, quia dolor sit, amet, consectetur, adipisci velit…

” (Approximately: “Nor is there anyone who loves or pursues or desires to obtain pain of itself, because it is pain…”). A typical Lorem Ipsum text goes like this: “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisici elit, sed eiusmod tempor incidunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Ut enim ad minim …”.
