Kolkata Short Film Festival 2017

Chitrabani and Nandan jointly organized the 14th edition of Kolkata Short Film Festival (KSFF), 10-16 December 2017 at Nandan, West Bengal Film Centre. 87 films selected from 170 films were screened during the seven-day festival. The Festival was inaugurated on Sunday, 10th December 2017, at 5.00 PM by well-known actor-producer Rahul Barman, an alumni of Chitrabani, in the presence of Film and TV actress TanimaSenand Festival Director Fr P.J. Joseph.

There were two shows daily, at 3.000 PM, and 5.45 PM, each show had a screening duration of two and a half hours. There were a total of 12 screening sessions and one panel discussion. The Festival had a footfall of over 3000 people. Entry to the festival was by invitation and free passes.

The Kolkata Short Film Festival was conceived by Chitrabani in 2004 with the objective of bringing together professional and amateur short filmmakers to promote short films. The festival, though open to all, specially focuses on attracting the young people.
The 14th KSFF have had films that cater to all classes and tastes: there were romances, thrillers, special effects, animations, children specific, documentaries on individuals, and cultures, and their duration range from 3 minutes to 30 minutes.

Short Film Directors at Chitrabani

Short film Directors whose films had been screened at 14th KSFF, was held at Chitrabani on 20 December 2017. It was to review the film festival and propose ways and means to improve the festival next year. They also received certificate of participation for their films in the festival. During the meet Chitrabani announced the launching of a YouTube channel for short films next year, and also screening of short films every month at Chitrabani auditorium. Film Directors appreciated the future plans of Chitrabani.

Chitrabani Staff Get-together 2017

Year-end celebration of Chitrabani Staff was held on 21 December 2017. Besides cutting the cake, all enjoyed the biryani on the occasion. The short program ended with a group photo. Fr. P.J. Joseph wished them all a very Happy Christmas and a Grace-filled New Year 2018.
